I've been getting non-stop calls from a company called Professional Debt Mediation (PDM) for a few weeks now. At first, it was just annoying, but it's escalated. They're calling my cell multiple times a day, sometimes before 8 AM. The caller is always rude and uses a threatening tone, hinting at lawsuits and wage garnishment if I don't pay immediately.
What worries me is that I haven't received any official letter from them in the mail about this debt. From what I've read, they're supposed to send a written "validation notice" within five days of first contacting me. I haven't gotten anything, so I don't even know if this debt is really mine or if it's too old.
I told one caller to stop contacting me at work, but they just called my office line again yesterday. It's embarrassing and stressful. I'm pretty sure this crosses the line into harassment.

Has anyone dealt with PDM specifically? What actually worked to get them to back off? Should I send a formal letter, or is it time to talk to a consumer lawyer? Any advice would be really appreciated.
